Born August 22, 1921 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Aaron J. and Mary E. (Reynolds) Funk. He was a life long resident of the Waynesboro area.
Mr. Funk graduated from Waynesboro High School with the class of 1939.
He later served with the United States Army during World War II, serving in the European Theater.
He and his wife, the late Charlotte P. (Minnich) Funk, were married on May 28, 1943 in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, MD. They moved to 315 Commerce Street, Waynesboro in 1952. Prior to moving to the Village of Laurel Run, they lived at Rose Manor, Waynesboro, the Shook Home and Providence Place, both of Chambersburg. Mrs. Funk died on July 16, 2008.
In his early life, Mr. Funk worked and got his apprenticeship at Frick Company, Waynesboro. He later worked for Globe Pattern Works, Waynesboro, for over 20 years. Prior to retiring in 1983, he worked for Landis Tool Company, Waynesboro.
He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro.
Mr. Funk enjoyed woodworking and clock making.
He is survived by two sisters, Mary Jane Simmers and Anna Pratt, both of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 26, 2010, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Rev. Dennis Beaver, officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, where military graveside honors will be conducted by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg.
