Anti-Jackson Senator from Maryland. He served in the US Senate from 1826-1834. He commanded a company of militia at The Battle of Caulk's Field, August 31, 1814, during the War of 1812. He was Brigadier General of the Maryland Line, Maryland Senator, 1822, United States Senator, 1826-1835, Chief Judge of the 2nd Judicial District and Judge Maryland Court of Appeals, 1834-1851.
