Gilbert Leonard (Ted) Paris, 44, who won the Canadian Open Skiing championship at Banff before the Second World War, died suddenly after being brought from his home here to the Mineral Springs Hospital Monday.

Born and educated in Banff, Mr. Paris attended business college in Calgary. Prior to enlisting in the R.C.A.F. during the Second World War he was employed as a carriage agent at Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper.

He was discharged from the Air Force as a Flying Officer and for a short time worked for Western Airlines at Lethbridge. Returning to Banff, Mr. Paris operated the Odd Craft Shop until his death.

Surviving are his wife, Kathleen [nee Jennings]; his father, George Paris; two brothers, Cyril and Herbert all of Banff and a sister, Mrs. Georgina Sutcliffe, Calgary. Rev. G.A.S. Hollywood conducted funeral services at St. George's Anglican Church Wednesday at 2. p.m., interment in the Banff Cemetery, Banff Funeral Service in charge.

Pall bearers were Capt. T White, Bob Crosbie, Pat Brewster, George Encil, Austin Standish and Bob Watt.
