In 1954 she married Carl Barnes and they moved to the United States and traveled to several places while her husband was in the military. In the late 1950s, she moved to Wiscasset and was employed at Wiscasset schools in the lunch program and also at local restaurants. Mrs. Barnes owned and operated Arlene's Restaurant on Route One in Wiscasset. She was later employed at Bath Iron Works as a custodian for many years.
Mrs. Barnes attended the First Congregational Church in Wiscasset. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, reading and watching old movies.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carl Barnes in April of 1973 and by one son, Richard Barnes in August of 1987.
