Records of First Congregational Church in Ashford, reflect that the Westford Society was organized in 1765. In 1768, the Westford Society built its first church, and called itself Second Congregational Church. Records of Second Congregational Church list David Chaffee, and other Chaffee/Walker family members, in the assignment of pews. Although, no tombstones have been discovered for David, or Martha, it is likely they are buried in the Westford Hills Cemetery, with other Chaffee/Walker family members.

Elizabeth Chaffee Bowen's grandparents were David Chaffee (I) and Patience Atherton Chaffee, both of whom are buried in the Newman Cemetery, East Providence, RI.
