V. Geraldine Greaves "Jerri" Brown, 90, of Sallisaw passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was born on Feb. 2, 1920, in Fairland, Oklahoma, but grew up in Miami, Oklahoma.
She married Clarence V. Brown on November 16, 1936, in Columbus, Kansas. They moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1957, where Mr. Brown owned Brown's Backhoe and Trucking Company.
Mrs. Brown taught a Bible class for many years at Shiloh Baptist Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma and Mr. Brown was a deacon. Mrs. Brown was secretary for Weddle Food Stores for 23 years. She retired in 1987.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Trecia Brown Robinson, two brothers, R.L. Greaves Jr. and Byron Greaves and two sisters, Pansy Essex and Betty Speciale.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Joan Brown of Walsenburg, Colorado and Gerald and Carol Brown of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Agent Chapel in Sallisaw. Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Michael Robinson, Jeffrey Robinson, Mark Brown, Paul Brown, John Brown and great-grandson Corey Brown.
Honorary pallbearer will be Frank Lake.
