Fanny Louise McDonald was the daughter of Hiram McDonald and Olive Maria Hewes. Census records show that she was born in the state of New York. She married Horace Dunham Parke in 1862 and bore three children: Donald Columbus, Anna Louise, and a third (unnamed) child who died young.

In censuses during Fanny's lifetime, married women are routinely listed as "housewife" or "keeping house." Keeping a house has always entailed much work, of course, but Fanny also worked outside the home. A photograph shows her and other relatives dressed for work at the Queen City Hotel and Restaurant, a business in Buffalo that Horace owned in the 1890s.

Fanny spent her final years in the Eastern Star Home in Oriskany, where she died in 1934 at the age of 95.

Fanny's great-grandfather was George Robert Twelves Hewes, a Revolutionary War figure who continues to intrigue historians. Fanny's line of descent is acceptable for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Fanny is also a direct descendant of four Mayflower passengers: She is the 8th great granddaughter of John Tilley and his wife Joan Hurst; and the 7th great granddaughter of the Tilleys' daughter Elizabeth and her husband John Howland. Fanny's line of descent is acceptable for membership in the General Society of Mayflower Descendants.

The graves of Horace Dunham Parke and his wife Fanny Louise McDonald Parke are no longer marked. Obituaries show, and the Lesley Voorhees records confirm, that the couple was buried at Plainville Cemetery in Onondaga County, New York.
