Ethel Ardell Brown, 98, of Cloquet, died Mon., Aug. 29, 1994 in Community Memorial Hospital, Cloquet. She was born on March 31, 1896 in Menomonie, Wis. When she reached the eighth grade, she entered Teacher's Training School, where she graduated in 1913. She was sixteen when she took her first teaching job. Ethel graduated in 1926. She taught elementary classes at the former Garfield School in Cloquet. She became an English and Social Studies teacher at the Cloquet Junior High School. She retired from teaching in 1964. She was a substitute teacher in Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Molly (Brunn) Brown. Ethel is survived by two sisters, Lorraine Mitchell and ReMona Brown, both of Cloquet. Visitation was from 5-8 PM on Wed. Aug. 31, 1994 in Barr Brothers Funeral Home, Cloquet, where funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, 1994 with the Rev. Henry Hanna officiating. Pallbearers were Ronald Mitchell, David Mitchell, Robert Mitchell, and Donald Brown. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cloquet.
