Lorenzo Allen dies after long illness
---Lorenzo W. Allen, 68, 724 W. Hanover, died at 1:20 p.m. Monday at Oaklawn Hospital after a long illness.
---He was born at Eckford Township Oct. 6, 1906 to Henry and Mertie (Hadley) Allen. On Feb. 8, 1947 he married Ruth L. Willis here. She preceded him in death Feb. 16, 1974.
---He was a meat cutter and worked for Don Stanley Packing Co. from 1953 to 1968. After that the worked there part-time. A member of the Wilder Creek Conservation Club, he also was a member of Marshall Farm Bureau.
---His first wife, Bertha Carrol, died in 1945.
---Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Lyle (Phyllis) LaFountain, Marshall, Mrs. William (Mary Lou) Skelley, Ypsilanti and Mrs. Jeffrey C. (Judy) McCormack, Battle Creek and seven grandchildren.
---Others are three brothers, Delbert of Eckford, Fred, Reed City, and Dale, Jackson and several nieces and nephews.
---Three sisters preceded him in death.
---Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday from the Court-Putnam Funeral Home. Father Samuel E. West of Trinity Episcopal Church will officiate and burial will be at West Eckford Cemetery.
---Those who wish may make memorials to the TB, Emphysema and Health Association of Calhoun County. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Services for Lorenzo W. Allen who died Monday were Thursday at 10:30 a.m. from the Court-Putnam Funeral Home. Father Samuel E. West from Trinity Episcopal Church officiated and burial followed in the West Eckford Cemetery. Paul A. Humiston was the organist and Arthur F. Sexton, Vern C. Lamphier, Donald G. Stanley, Francis E. Hess, Richard H. Hill Sr. and Charles M. Crooks assisted as pallbearers. Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to the TB, Emphysema and Health Association of Calhoun County. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
