Edith Matilda Hansen Willardsen, 99, passed away peacefully at her home in Ephraim, Utah on Thursday March 18, 2010.
Edith was born April 24, 1910 in Fairview, Utah to Hans and Selma Hansen.
She graduated from LDS High School in Salt Lake City in 1928. She received a teaching certificate from Snow College in 1932 and a bachelors degree from the University of Utah.
Edith married George Cannon Willardsen, June 5, 1935 in the Manti LDS Temple. Together they raised 3 children.
She touched many lives through years of teaching, which included 30 years at Ephraim Elementary and more recently, Mathematics at Snow College.
After teaching for 15 additional years at Snow College, she retired at age 87.
Edith had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She received great joy from serving in the Manti Temple for 21 years and was faithful in many other callings. She also had a great passion for fishing and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by a son, Chris Willardsen; daughter-in-law Ann Willardsen; son-in-law Lynn Gottfredson; 12 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, George; son, Dr.G. Arthur Willardsen, daughter, Carol Gottfredson; siblings, John Hansen, Vondella Hanley, Allan Hansen, Edward "Ned" Hansen, and Charles Hansen.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 23 at 12:00 pm at the Ephraim 1st Ward chapel, 420 north 200 west. Burial will be in the Ephraim Park Cemetery.
