Mr. Williams was born in Alachua County in 1851 but at an early age moved to Arcadia where he spent much of his youth, coming to Lee County 28 years ago. Mr. Williams witnessed the transformation of this section from a tropical wilderness to modern wonderland of today.
Located for many years at Bonita Springs where he owned land, Mr. Williams was a devout member of the Methodist Church. His illness dated back some seven years and it was at that time he moved to Fort Myers in order that he might receive better medical attention.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Mary C. Williams, and eleven children, of whom seven survive: H. R. Williams of Daytona, Thomas A. Williams and Thad M. Williams of Fort Myers, L. M. Williams and C. H. Williams of Miami; Mrs. R C Moore of Daytona, Oliver Williams, Mrs. Dick Moore and Mrs. Floyd W. Lumbattis, Mrs. Luther Lott and Miss Eloise Williams of Fort Myers.
Mr. Williams' long residence in this section won him a host of friends throughout the county, who will mourn the passing of a pioneer settler, respected and loved by all who knew him. (Fort Myers Press, 7/23/25)
