Richard Emmett Maloney, 81, formally of Windsor Locks, died March 17, 2010 in Bennington, Vermont.

Born in Bennington on May 29, 1929, he graduated from Bennington High School and was a Korean War veteran.

In earlier years, Dick worked for the railroad in Bridgeport and Hartford. Later he worked for Choice Vend in Windsor Locks, Funkhouser Industrial Products in East Granby, and also for Cohoes in East Windsor. In 1998, after he retired, he was recognized by the Hartford Courant for his many hours of volunteering.

Survivors include two sisters, Patricia McCormack of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania and Lucille Hurd of Torrington, Connecticut; a brother, Edward Maloney of Hemet, California; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by seven siblings. He was a special uncle to the McCormack children after their father died.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, Vermont on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 10:30 a.m., with a prayer and from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services.
Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
