She was born March 27, 1922 in Garden City, the daughter of John and Katie Knoll Mader.
She was a lifetime resident of Finney County, living in Holcomb and Garden City. She attended Holcomb Schools and graduated from Holcomb High School. She then attended one year at Garden City Community College.
She was married to Clarence Katz and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City, the Senior Center of Finney County, and AARP. She enjoyed playing bridge, dancing, music, cooking, sewing and reading. She worked for many years as a dispatcher for the Garden City Police Department. She later worked for 18 years as a municipal court clerk. She retired in 1991.
Survivors include two sons, John Lee Katz of Wichita and Stanley George Katz of Garden City; Two daughters, Mary Jolene Katz of Wichita, and Traci Linn Brown of Mulvane; three brothers, Joe Mader of Garden City, Albert Mader of Garden City, and George Mader of Las Vegas; two sisters, Annabelle Newsome and Katherine Sullivan, both of Garden City; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a son Clarence "Jerry" Katz, a brother James Mader, and two sisters Millicent Yount and Geraldine Williams.
Vigil service and rosary was at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Funeral Mass was at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Garden City.
