Funeral services for Doris M. Passmore, 93, of Tipton will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Tipton with Rev. Johnny Tims of Chickasha and Rev. Eugene Foreman of Altus officiating.
Doris was born May 8, 1907 in San Angelo, Texas to James and Lillie (Linam) Arthur and died Sunday, April 15, 2001 in Frederick.
As a young child her family moved to Carnegie where she grew up and graduated form Carnegie High School in 1925. She married Arlie Robert Passmore on August 5, 1928 in Carnegie. they made their home in Carnegie and later moved to Chickasha where they lived for over 30 years. In 1978 she and her husband moved to Tipton. Arlie preceded her in death on October 20, 1980.
She was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church in Chickasha and later moved her membership to the First Baptist Church in Tipton. She was also a member of the Home Demonstration club in Chickasha and the M.M.U. in Tipton. Doris enjoyed spending her time sewing and loved to cook for her family and friends. Doris was a loving mother and grandmother and a friend to all.
She is survived by five grandchildren, Wes Lee Passmore of Meade, Kansas, Arlene Brown of Beaver, Jim Arthur Passmore of Blair, Robin Doreen Passmore of Lawton and Robert Lee Passmore of Tuttle; 11 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Betty Passmore of Oklahoma City; three nieces, Betty Tompson of Ada, Faye Jepson of Carnegie, Shirley Houlett of Lubbock, Texas; one nephew, Freddie Dale Arthur of Lubbock. Texas.
She was preceded in death by her only child, Arthur Lee Passmore on January 1, 1995; two brothers, James and Fred Arthur and one sister, Gladys Robinson.
Burial will be in the Carnegie Cemetery under the direction of the Gray-Gish Funeral Home in Frederick.
