The seventh child of Robert DeShazer and Elizabeth Frances Todd was Rachel Katherine DeShazer born 7 February 1857, Maryville, Nodaway County, Missouri, and died in September 1900 in Oklahoma. She was married at seventeen to her first cousin Samuel DeShazer who was seventeen years older than she, a widower with seven children, whom she raised along with the eleven children she bore him in the twenty-six years she was his wife.

She died on December 19, 1900 two years after making the trip from Topeka, Shawnee county, Kansas to Pawnee, Pawnee county, Oklahoma by covered wagon. It took twelve days to make the trip over rough often muddy terrain, with her husband Samuel and their surviving eleven children. They settled about three miles south of Pawnee, Pawnee county, Oklahoma and were living there when she died.
She was buried near Pawnee in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
