He was born Sept. 3, 1912, in Cambridge, Ohio, the son of Marion Anderson and Emma Black Anderson.
He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1930. He moved to Brazil in 1933. On March 29, 1935, he married Margaret P. Walker Anderson, who preceded him in death on April 29, 2003. An Army veteran of WWII, he was a heavy equipment mechanic for G&F Corporation and later worked at Columbia Records. He was a member of the United Mine Workers Association for over 60 years.
Lewis was a member of the F&AM Lodge No. 264 and the Eastern Star Chapter No. 80. He was also a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in the past and currently had been attending Staunton Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 68 years, Margaret P. Anderson, seven brothers, three sisters, son, Jack Anderson and grandson Clint Anderson.
Since the passing of his dear wife, Lewis only had one wish, to be "together again" and now his wait is over.
Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Rochelle and Delbert McQueen, Brazil, son, Charles "Dick" Anderson and daughter-in-law Margaret, Plainfield, daughter-in-law, Martha Anderson of Manteno, Ill., six grandchildren, Richard and Donna Anderson, Michele and Mike Johnson, all of Brazil, Kim Black, Avon, and her fiancé Tom Pflueger, Lafayette, Ind., Steve and Ruth Anderson, Bloomington, Tim and Karen Anderson, Homewood, Ill., and Kory and Richard Mahler, Manteno, Ill., 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other extended family.
Visitation will be Friday from 11-1 p.m., at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil.
Graveside services will follow at Clearview Cemetery with Bro. Doug Parkey officiating.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donation be made to the Staunton Christian Church, Building Fund or to the memorial of choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
