John McQueary
Feb. 8, 1954 - Dec. 2, 1996
Police, firefighters and medics responded to a call at 1:45 p.m. to the Steve Moor Insurance Agency, 817 E. East 9th Street, where electrician John R. McQUEARY, Sr., 42, Rochester, died in the basement.
McQueary, 42, was installing a water heater at the insurance agency.
Employees realized they had not seen him for a while and suspected a gas leak in the basement.
They called the Rocheter Fire Department. McQueary was found unconscious.
Coroner Junior GOOD said no determination for the cause of McQyeary's death has been made at this time.
"We don't have anything yet," Good said.
"Since (Woodlawn) hospital got rid of its morgue, we're going to have to wait for the results on some tests. That's just the way it's going to be now."
Woodlawn Hospital officials said they could not answer qustions concerning the condition of McQueary when he was found.
John R McQUEARY, Sr., 42, died unexpectdly at 1:45 p.m. Monday at the Steve Moore Insurance Agency where he was installing a water heater.
Born in South Bend to Ernest and Elizabeth SIMMS McQUEARY, he had lived in Talma and Rochestr since 1968. On June 30, 1973, in Rochester, he married Patricia J. HITTLE; she survives. He was a self-employed contractor who owned and operated McQ's Repair Service, Rochester.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son John R. McQUEARY at home; his mother Elizabeth McQUEARY, Rochester; his father and step-mother Ernest and Virginia McQUEARY, Rochester; one sister Mrs. Darwin (Marchelle) GARRISON, Rochester; one brother Ernest and wife Lois McQUEARY, Culver; one step-sister Charlann CLEVENGER, Logansport; and one step-brother Gary CLEVENGER, Rochester. He was preceded in death by one daughter Michelle [McQUEARY[, in 1973 and one son Johnny [McQUEARY], in 1981.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Chris DODSON officiatig Burial wil be in the I.O.O.F Cemetry, Rochester. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and for an hour before services Thursday.

An autopsy of John R. McQUEARY, 42, Rochester, showed that he died of a heart attack.
McQueary was found dead at 1:45 p.m. Monday at the Steve Moore Insurance Agency on East Ninth Street.
The autopsy was performed Tuesday at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru, by forensic pathologist Dr. Marvin DZIAVIS under the authorizaton of Fulton County coroner Junior GOOD.
"He died of a coronary thrombosis," Good said. "That's basically a heart attack. There were no signs of electrical shock."
Good said an exact time of death was not determined.
McQueary, owner and operator of McQ's Repair Service, was installing a water heater when stricken.
The Rocheter Fire Department, police and emergency medical technicitan were called to the scene, and fire department officials discovered McQueary unconscious.
