Elaine E. Cleveland, 93, of Nashua passed away Thursday morning, March 18, 2010 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2010 at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua with Pastor Okitakoyi Lundula officiating. Christine Cleveland will be the organist and will be playing "In The Garden " and "Beyond The Sunset".

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Nashua with Scott Cleveland, Bud Cleveland, David Cleveland, Terry Hansen, Tim Hansen, Ted Hansen, Philip Krough and Scott Murray serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be June Newcomb, Kerry Jo Murray, Tina Hansen and Tammy Lloyd.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and for 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home in Nashua. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Elaine was born April 9, 1916, the daughter of William and Florence (Thompson) Hunt in Chickasaw County. She moved to the family farm when she was 2 years old. She lived her remaining 92 years on this farm, which was registered as an Iowa Century Farm in 1985.

In 1935, she was united in marriage to Leon L. Cleveland. To this union three children were born; Leon LeRoy, William Lynn and Esther Jane. During the war Elaine worked in an airplane factory at Lockheed Air Base in California making P-38's. later she had a "Home Business" of dressing poultry for many people from around the area. She loved fishing, gardening, sewing, crocheting, making rugs on an old rug loom and playing the organ. Elaine was a member of Rebekah's, the Bradford Homemakers and enjoyed working with the Nashua Waterhawks. Her family was very important to her. She loved having the grandchildren close by so she could spend time with them. They all have special memories of their times with her.

She is survived by her son Leroy (Pat) of Charles City; a daughter, Jane Krough of New Hartford; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Cleveland of Nashua; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon in 1984; one son, Bill and one granddaughter.
