Lucien Seth Madsen 1949 ~ 2006
Passed away peacefully on July 30th, 2006 at the Veterans hospital, he was surrounded by his loving family. Seth's strength and optimism throughout his illness will forever be an inspiration to his family and friends. Even after being diagnosed with cancer, he fought to maintain a normal simple life though suffering through great pain. He didn't lose his battle with cancer, Victory was his in the way he faced this challenge with dignity and grace. He loved life and portrayed that love through his amazing sense of humor and with his sweet happy spirit. One of the things he will be missed for are his stories. He could make any story come to life for all that were listening and watching.
Seth was born the middle child of seven children on March 29th, 1949, to Spencer and Dagney Madsen in Manti, Utah. He spent many summers with his family in the mountains where his father was a sheepherder and trapper. This is where he found his great love for the outdoors. He graduated from Manti High School, and joined the army shortly after. He served his country selflessly on a tour of Viet Nam with the First Cavalry Combat Infantry Division. He received many medals and commendations for his acts of bravery. He joined the National Guard and remained a member for many years.
Seth was employed as a foreman in various lines of construction. He lived his life with strength and courage, never giving up till his last breath. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Preceded in death by his parents Spencer and Dagney, brother Loy, niece Cynthia and nephew Matt. Survived by brothers Jack, Lewis, sisters Ireta (LaRell), Margaret, Barbara, son Jim (Suzanne) and granddaughter Hannah.
Services will be held at the Manti Cemetery, Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Seth's ashes will be scattered over the mountains and valleys in which he loved dearly. Online guestbook and directional maps available at www.russonmortuary.com
