Joanna Sue Gibson, 74, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born April 4,1935 in Muncie, IN and has lived in Jacksonville for the past 51 years. She was a member of Eastport Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She also loved her church family, especially her kids. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Thomas Gibson; sons, Mark Gibson, Tim Gibson (Theresa), and Frank Gibson all of Jacksonville; daughters, Ellen Thorton (Paul) of Dahlonega, GA, and Judith Gibson of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 12:00 noon at Eastport Baptist Church, 1322 Eastport Road, with Rev. Jim Curtis officiating. Interment will be held Monday, March 22 in the Jacksonville National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Eastport Baptist Church 'Building Fund' in memory of Mrs. Gibson. Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, in charge of services.
