Baptist Churchfor Melvin Floyd Bennett Sr. 58 who died August 21 at Webster General Hospital in Eupora, Ms. Mr Bennett was buried at Chickasaw Memorial Gardens with Rev, Ira Bright and James Cannon presiding.
A native of Itawamba County, Mr. Bennett was the son of Columbus Bennett and Frances Kelly. He was a truck driver
and a member of Parkway Baptist Church. Mr. Bennett was living on West Point Rd. at the time of his death.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Frances Nichols Bennett;
two sons, Floyd Bennett and Charles Bennett, both of Houston; one daughter Mrs Ruth Reedy of Grenada; four
sisters, Mrs.Loncia Barrett of Carbon Hill, Ala. Mrs. Lonia Smith of Jackson, Mrs. Lillian Simpson of Payneway, Ar. and Mrs. Annie Sue Turman of Houston; three brothers,
L.W. Bennettof Smithville, Robert Bennettof Meadville, and Elvin Bennett of Houston; six grandchildren and one great
grandchild.
