Frances Drenik Novak, 94, of Brentwood, Calif., formerly of Strabane in North Strabane Township, retired owner of the Colony Grill in Canonsburg, on May 11.

Regarding the location of the Colony Grill, it became a restaurant in 1932, soon after Prohibition was lifted, advertising “Free Beer, Coffee or Soup with every 40¢ meal.” Shortly thereafter, fire burned out the restaurant. It reopened at the end of June 1934 and advertised "We Never Close" in the 1941 high school yearbook.
