I received this edit but cannot find proof that it is correct. The 1865 KS census shows John W. Whitman, age 32, born in ILL with wife Rosetta and son John.
Suggested edit: Rosetty married John Burns Whitman. You have John Wood Whitman, Sr. John and Rosetty's son was John Wood Whitman. Where his middle name came from I don't know. However John Burns Whitman's mother's maiden name was Burns.
