She is survived by her husband, Sam Speer of Madison, Indiana; daughter, Judy Speer of Beech Grove, Indiana; son, Stephen Speer of Indianapolis, Indiana, Mark Speer and his wife, Kim of Murray, Utah; granddaughters, Linda and Laura Speer; grandson, Sam Speer; sister in law, Mary Little of Bedford, Indiana.
Hope entered this life on August 19, 1926 in Bedford, Indiana. She was the daughter of George & Sophia (Clampitt) Carleton, both of whom preceded her in death. She was raised in Bedford, Indiana and was a 1944 graduate of Bedford High School. She was united in marriage on August 27, 1944 in Bedford, Indiana, to Sam Speer. To this union arrived one daughter and two sons to bless their home. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She resided in Indianapolis from 1944 to 1958 and in Wanamaker from 1958 to 1998. She was a faithful member of the Franklin Central Christian Church and sang in the choir there for many years. Hope and Sam moved to Madison in November 1998. They enjoyed the fellowship at the First Christian Church in Madison and she sang in the choir there as well. They had enjoyed staying at the City Campground in Madison for many years before moving here in 1998.
Services will be Friday, March 19, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Wilson-St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Stirling - Gerber Chapel, 5950 East Thompson Road in Indianapolis, Indiana. Friends may call from Thursday from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 12 Noon until time of the service at the funeral home.
Her final resting place will be at Orchard Hill Cemetery in Wanamaker, Indiana
