Was a farmer, storekeeper, and teacher. He married Lydia Barnes who died at the young age of 19. He then married her sister, Hannah Mary Barnes. Was a 1st Sergeant in the Civil War and was captured during the battle of Winchester, VA and was sent to Libby Prison.
