GENE TUNNEY ALLEE, son of Horace Greeley and Cora Duncan Allee, was born April 2, 1927, in Stoutland, Missouri and departed this life March 10, 2010, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years.

Tunney, as he was known to family and friends, attended school in the Stoutland area, where he made his home for the duration of his life. He treasured the closeness of the small community and made many life long friends.

After graduating high school, Tunney joined the United States Navy until his honorable discharge in 1946. During his service time he was also on the Battleship Maryland. He was a dedicated soldier [sic] and proud of his country.

On December 3, 1988, he was united in marriage with Sondra Neher. At the time of his death they had celebrated twenty-one wonderful years together.

Tunney was employed with the Frisco Railroad and later Laclede Electric for over thirty-five years, where he was a supervisor for both Laclede and Camden County. He was respected by his co-workers and employers for his strong work ethic and attention to detail. Tunney also owned and operated Allee's Grocery for several years, as well as, drove a school bus for the Stoutland School District.

When he wasn't working, he had a variety of past times. He was an avid fox and rabbit hunter. He enjoyed traveling and camping, however, nothing compared to the time spent and memories made with his close friends and family.

Tunney is survived by his wife, Sondra of the home; four sons, Gene and his wife Pam and Bruce and his wife Pam, all of Sleeper, MO, Brent and his wife Kim of Lebanon, MO and Norman Allee and his wife Charlene of Camdenton, MO; one step-daughter, Robin Sheets; three step-sons, Kevin Sheets and his wife Samantha, Willis Brown, and Aaron Brown, all of Stoutland; one brother, Archie Allee and his wife Ruth, also of Sleeper, MO; fifteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Oakle, Arble, Jennings and Warren Allee and five sisters, Sybil, Mildred, Thelma, Ruby and Artie.

Tunney was a friend to all. He was a respectable business man and a dedicated family man. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him will cherish every memory. He will be greatly missed.
