Cedric served sixteen years as Mayor of the Village of Doylestown, fourteen as Village Clerk, 25 years in the school board, was a Boy Scout leader, was lay leader of the Doylestown Methodist Church, and made many other civic contributions. He was active in Grange, Lions and Odd Fellows. His career included production work, bookkeeping and (most recently) dispatching (for a window and door manufacturing plant, Weather-Seal, in Orrville, Ohio). 1991-1994 he r. Doylestown Health Care Center, Doylestown, OH. He was Treasurer of the Doylestown Methodist Church for 58 years. The Doylestown branch of the Wayne County Library System is named for him. The Wooster (Ohio) Daily Record named him Citizen of the Year in 1989. He received the Democratic Party's Old Hickory Award in 1980. He was a 50-year volunteer for the Salvation Army. He helped found Boy Scout Troop 103 of Doylestown. He was an apiarist.
