Mary Kathleen Woodruff Hughes Ezell - A native of Louisville, MS and longtime resident of Mobile and Grand Bay, Mary Kathleen Woodruff Ezell died in a local hospital on October 9, 2006. Born on January 29, 1937, Kathleen was always active in her church and Sunday School, having been a member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church for many years and a current member of the Friendship Baptist Church in her home town of Grand Bay.

Kathleen was a devoted wife of 31 years to Ted Ezell, and a proud and dedicated mother and grandmother to her three sons and five grandchildren: Steven R. Hughes and wife Leisa, and their children Katie and Drake of Ackerman, MS; James E. Hughes and wife Kimberley, and their children Mary Kathleen, Calvin, and Hunter of Birmingham, AL; and Thomas G. Hughes of Mobile, AL. Always putting her family first, Kathleen brought joy to the lives of her family. With nurturing and love, her house was always alive with family and friends who loved to spend their free time at the Ezell home. She enjoyed many activities including taking long walks, cooking biscuits and gumbo for her family, and camping with her grandchildren. Kathleen was also very active with the Senior Citizens in Grand Bay where she shared her time and efforts with her community, friends, and loved ones.

Kathleen is also survived by her sisters, Wilma Fulton (Walter C.) of Louisville, MS, and Doris Fortenberry of Columbia, MS, and her sisters-in-law Mrs. Cecil (Betty) Hughes and Mrs. John (Joyce) Hughes.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Calvin Hughes, and her parents, Wilbur and Karon Woodruff.

She will be sadly missed by all of those who knew her. "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 'Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.' - Proverbs 31:28-29.

Visitation and services will be held for family and friends at Friendship Baptist Church, 12581 Saeger Road, Grand Bay, AL 36541 with visitation from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 and the service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2006.
