Mrs. Zula Johnson, Carbondale, Dies
Mrs. Zula Johnson of Rt. 3, Carbondale, died Wednesday in Holden Hospital, Carbondale, after a lengthy illness. She was 67.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Union County on April 11, 1901, to George and Anna Evans Spears. She was married to Charlie M. Johnson on July 2, 1917 in Murphysboro. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the South County Line Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband; sons, Walter, Homer, George, and Norman, all of Carbondale; daughters, Mrs. Barbara (Gene) Finney of Crainville and Mrs. Martha Lipe (Herman) Batson and Mrs. Mary (Eldon) Brooks, both of Carbondale; brother Burl (Mary) Spears of Carbondale, sisters, Mrs. Amy (Charlie) Anderson, Carbondale; Mrs. Oleva (Harvey) Poole of Kankakee; and Mrs. Lucy Curtner of Anna; 24 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, an infant and Georgia; and infant daughter, Pauline.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Huffman Funeral Home, Carbondale, with the Rev. Hugh Stearns officiating.
Burial will be in South County Line cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
