Melvin M Jenkins, 64, of Rt. 5, Charlottesville died Monday, Jan 4, at his home of an apparent heart attack.
He was born in Page County, June 2, 1917 and was a son of the late David Martin and Ethel Thomas Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins was a farmer.
On Nov 11, 1927, he married the former Ressie Downey, who survives.
Surviving, besides his wife, are four daughters, Ruby L Luchard and Martha L Lynch, both of Charlottesville, Judy C Blair of El Paso, Texas, Faye G Nichols of Luray; four sons, James M Jenkins of Detroit, Mich, David F Jenkins of Norfolk, Gerald W Jenkins of Charlottesville and Ray G Jenkins of Jessup, Ga.; a sister, Susie Stoneberger of Luray; four half sisters, Esta Painter, Mollie Painter and Reda Purdham, all of Stanley, and Annie Lam of Manasas; two half brothers, Dewey Jenkins of Berryville and Russell Jenkins of Detroit Mich., one step brother, Rufus Stoneberger of Luray; 20 grandchildren, one step grandchild, five great-grandchildren and five ste-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted 2:30 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Belmont Baptist Church by Dr. Rudolph Wood.
Burial will be in Holly Memorial Gardens (JAC)
