Alva Leroy Ballard, 66, died Friday evening at the Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis after an illness of seven years. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Leatherman-Morris Funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Mr. Ballard was born August 21, 1891, the son of John and Mary (Young) Ballard. He was married April 23, 1915 in Tipton, to Marie Coleman, and lived thereafter in Tipton. He was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist church and the Tipton American Legion. He was employed at Delco-Remy, Anderson, until his illness. Survivors include his wife, Marie, three sons, Robert and Jimmy, of Tipton and William D. of route 2, Tipton; a daughter, Mrs. Jack Johnson, Kokomo; a brother, Elmer, three sisters, Mrs. Faye Davis, Mrs. Pearl Gibbs and Mrs. Gladys Irby; and 10 grandchildren.
