A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 18, at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home, 118 N. Third St., Livingston. Graveside committal and burial of the cremated remains will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
Doris was born on April 20, 1920 in Absarokee, Montana, the daughter of Sallie and Ray Tandy. She graduated from high school in Absarokee and attended Montana State College in Bozeman.
On March 18, 1940, she married Peter Lawrence Holten in Livingston. Doris raised her family in Livingston for a number of years before moving to Nye in the mid-1950s. In 1961 she moved to Deer Lodge. Doris worked part-time at the post office in Nye, and at the Deer Lodge Hotel for many years before retiring.
Doris was a loving mother, great seamstress and baker and enjoyed gardening and travel. While in Deer Lodge, she and her husband were avid golfers and were members of the Deer Lodge Golf Club. Doris moved to Bozeman in 1996, and in 2008 she moved to Baltimore to live closer to her daughter, Judy Gach.
She is survived by her daughters: Sally A. Allen, of Camarillo, CA, Marie C. Jenks, of Salt Lake City, UT, and Judy (Jim) Gach, of Baltimore; her son, James L. Holten, of Hudson, WI; her beloved sister, Beryl Cloyd, of Livingston; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband; two brothers; a sister; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
