She was baptized on July 26, 1931 at Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Arapahoe. She attended Immanuel Lutheran elementary school and was confirmed on May 27th, 1945. She then finished her high school education at Arapahoe High School & graduated with the class of 1949. On September 4th, 1949 she married Victor Wendland, & to this blessed union was born five daughters.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cambridge, NE since 1952. Helen was a very active member in her church & in her community. She clerked the Village of Holbrook board meetings until her retirement at the age of 70. She worked part-time at the State Farm Insurance office in Arapahoe, Cambridge & McCook, NE until she retired. She had many interests & hobbies including family, fishing, gardening, quilting, and bowling. She lived in the Holbrook community until her health declined. She chose to move to Good Samaritan Assisted Living & then to the nursing home in Arapahoe, NE. She was known to the nieces & nephews as "Aunt Boots!" Her family always came first, and she never turned down a game of cards or a loving hug from family & friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Elsie Wendland; her husband, Victor Wendland; and sisters, Eunice Paxton, Eleanor Shelor, Glenva Wendland and a brother Glen Wendland.
She leaves to mourn her 5 daughters: Vicky and husband Larry Warner of Funk, Nebraska

Kathy and husband Ric Meyers of Holbrook, Nebraska
Lana and husband Steve Hilker of Arapahoe, Nebraska
