Colonel Thomas H. Ball, a resident of Georgetown, TX, died on April 6th, 2009. He was 80. Col. Ball was born in Washington D.C. on January 23rd, 1929 to Col. Clinton Ball and Betty Ball. Col. Ball is survived by his wife Beverly Carroll Ball, brother David Alden Ball of Austin, TX, son Thomas C Ball of Austin, TX and daughter Elizabeth Hill of San Antonio, TX. Col. Ball is also survived by his adoring dachsund "Winkle". Col. Ball was a 1950 graduate of West Point and enjoyed a distinguished 30 year career in the Army. His career included service in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Heroism. During his military career Col. Ball traveled extensively; including appointments in Istanbul, Turkey in 1962 and as Defense Attache in Bogota, Colombia from 1974 to 1978. After retiring from the military, Col Ball taught World History at St. Mary's Hall in San Antonio, TX where he was known affectionately as "the Kern" by his beloved students. Col. Ball will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family (including all his loyal dogs) and country.
