Mary changed her name to Mayme, went to Chicago for 2 years; then to Duluth, Minnesota to be a barber. She was cited in Gratiot Co Newsletter Vol 10, #1, Mar. 2002. She eventually worked in 25 states, obtaining a license in most of them. She was one of very few women to ever be licensed in Washington. She died about 3 years after a stroke on 10 May 1936, buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, Gratiot Co, MI. There was no mention of children.
