My Dad...Right now it hurts to breath but I promise soon to add a Bio...3/15/2010

One day I was driving my dad home from Chemo and he tells me...Kelly, I pray everyday, but I don't pray for a cure for this cancer. I pray for you, I pray that when I die you will be ok. I pray for you, I pray for your mom and I pray for everyone else. Because the facts are when I die I'm going to be dead and y'all will be the ones left suffering.

He was right!

My Thoughts... added 6/17/2010:

Dad was my Charles Ingles...Straight, Honest, Wisdom beyond words and lots of Faith¡¦ Dad didn't go to mass on Sundays but he had as much faith as any pillar of the Church. He prayed and considered his Church to be him alone, one on one with God and his thoughts.

Dad never jumped the gun or flew off the handle about things¡¦ he pondered them as he would say¡¦ He would think it through. He said he got his best answers from a good nights sleep.

***********************************************

His advise:
Do what your head and heart tells you to do¡¦ Just make sure they both agree.

Famous for saying:
I married your mom because for 1¡¦ I love her more than anything on this earth and 2¡¦there isn't another man on this earth that could have put up with her¡¦LOL!!

Nicknames:

TITMAN...given to him by my mom...not for the reason you may think.

BROTHER...everyone on my dad's side of the family called him brother.

***********************************************

Dad loved him some music¡¦

He loved¡¦ Ladysmith Black Mambazo,Celine Dion,Reba,Gospel, Jazz, Real Country and Western¡¦ everything except for Rap! I would venture to say he burned close to a 1000 CD's.

He was a whistler and a singer. You knew when dad got home in the morning from work because he was either singing or whistling when he came through the door. I remember him coming to check me out of school one day¡¦ I was sitting at my desk and I could hear someone coming done the hall whistling¡¦I knew it was dad!

***********************************************
Favorite Memory:

I went to school with a note that my dad had written giving the reason I was absent¡¦ It read¡¦Please excuse Kelly for being absent. When I woke that morning it was such a beautiful day I thought she should not be stuck in a classroom all day, so I took her crabbing instead. (I was probably about a 3rd grader at the time)

***********************************************
A story I would like to share:

About 2 ¨ö months prior to my dad's passing my now husband (Nick) asked my dad for my hand in marriage. The way Nick tells the story is he came through the door to my mom and dad's house, my dad is standing with his back to him in front of the TV with his hands in his pockets¡¦ looks over his shoulder and says in his usual dad way "Helloo Nick! Come on in" then he proceeds to walk to the kitchen with Nick following behind him. Nick, while walking behind him then says he has come to ask for his daughters hand in marriage¡¦ my dad stops dead in his tracks without turning and says, "Well Nick, you are going to have to take her whole body not just her hand"¡¦

God knew he would be taking my dad soon so he sent me Nick¡¦ Heartbroken, but Blessed.

Just Funny...Added 2/25/2011

When I was little, I would always go into Mom and Dads room, crawl into their bed, and snuggle up with Dad. Well, one night I happen to have bubble gum in my mouth. When we woke the next morning, I no longer had the gum and it was painful when he tried to lift his arm. My mom had to cut it out!! :)

Dad's favorite color:
Grey

Hobbies:
Hunting, fishing, gardening, making cane poles, building anything...

Dad read anything and everything he could get his hands on¡¦ Novels, Reader's Digest, Encyclopedia, Almanac, Dictionary, Paperbacks¡¦ and he retained 99.98% of everything he read¡¦ Google-ing had nothing on Forest LaCombe! A Friend of mine said to me one day that he wished he knew half of what my dad had forgotten.

A very special father, treasured in my heart, death cannot separate us, we're just a prayer apart. I talk to you so often, like you were never gone, which really is appropriate for in me you still live on. ~Unknown~
