Mrs. Frank Mansholt Dies After Stroke Sunday Morning
Hookdale Resident Stricken While Preparing Morning Meal
Mrs. Mary W. Mansholt, wife of Frank Mansholt of Hookdale, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Sunday (CST) at St. Joseph's hospital in Highland, following a stroke while getting breakfast that morning. Mrs. Mansholt had suffered from hypertension and had a light stroke two years ago, but had been able to be about and do her household duties.
The body was removed to the Donnell Funeral Home to remain until noon the day of the funeral which will be 2 p.m. (CST) Wednesday at the Hookdale Evangelical church, with the Rev. M.H. Pepmeir officiating. Interment will be made at the Hookdale cemetery.
Mrs. Mansholt's maiden name was Mary W. Ennen, a daughter of John and Mary (Heien) Ennen and she was born a half mile south of Tamalco February 27, 1885 and was aged 70 years, 3 months and 22 days.
On October 15, 1905 she was married at her parent's home to Frank Mansholt, who survives her with three sons, Clarence G. at home, Edward J. of Greenville and Lawrence F. of Hookdale and a daughter Marie, who is Mrs. Alexander Johnson of Carlyle. A son, Wilfred died in infancy.
She also leaves six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Two brothers survive her, Gerhart and John F. Ennen of south of Greenville. Three brothers, Henry, Edward and Hei preceded her in death and three sisters died in infancy. She was a member of the Hookdale Evangelical church.
