Frank H. Mansholt, Retired Farmer Dies Sunday At Hospital
Services To Be Held Tuesday Afternoon at Hookdale Church
Frank H. Mansholt, 82, retired Hookdale farmer but for the past 3 years making his home with his son Edward J. Mansholt of this city, died at Utlaut Memorial Hospital at 7:10 a.m. Sunday where he had recently underwent surgery. He had been in failing health for the past 2 years and had previously been hospitalized.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Christ in Hookdale, Rev. R.H. Morninweg former pastor of Troy officiating. Music was provided by granddaughters, Miss Connie Mansholt accompanied by Mrs. Leon Linton. Pallbearers were Julius Meyer, Calvin Metzger, Robert Oechsner, Henry Kersch, Fred Griemann and Henry Beyes. Burial was in German cemetery. The Donnell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
The son of Heye and Trentje (Hayden) Mansholt, he was born on November 9, 1883 in Tamalco township where he had spent the greater part of his life. He was 83 years of age last November 9. On October 15, 1905 he was married to Mary Ennen and they resided on a farm until the death of Mrs. Mansholt on June 19, 1955.
Since the death of his wife he has lived at the home of his son Clarence until September 1962 when he came to live with his son Edward of this city.
During his last illness he was cared for at the home of another son Lawrence F. of Hookdale. He is survived by the three sons mentioned and one daughter, Marie, Mrs. Alex Johnson of Carlyle, two sisters, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son Wilfred in infancy and 3 brothers, George, Fred and John.
Mr. Mansholt was a member of the Hookdale United Church of Christ, serving as a trustee, and had also served as a school director.
