WILLIAM D. WILSON - Farm Machinery Inventory Dies Here at 82 - William Dossett Wilson of 2160 Madison, retired cotton gin repairman and inventory of farm and gin machinery, died at 11:55 last night at Baptist Hospital. He was 82. He moved to Memphis 25 years ago from Belzoni, Miss., where he repaired gin machinery. Mr. Wilson, a Methodist, was born in Oxford, Miss. Mr. Wilson perfected several inventions of farm machinery including an electric plow, which he demonstrated a year ago on WMCT, The Commercial Appeal television station. He leaves five sisters, Mrs. Vernon Sneed, Mrs. A.S. Gennette, Mrs. Roy Sutton, and Mrs. T.W. Ramsey, all of Memphis, and Mrs. Harold Sheldon of Los Angeles. He was a an uncle of Kemmons Wilson, Memphis real estate developer. National Funeral Home has charge. (Published in The Commercial Appeal 2-1-1957)

WILSON RITES WILL BE TOMORROW - Retired Inventory, 82, Lived In Memphis 30 Years - Services for William Dossett Wilson of 2160 Madison, retired inventory, will be held at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon at National Funeral Home with Dr. Wayne A. Lamb officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Mr. Wilson, who was 82, died at 11:50 Thursday night at Baptist Hospital after a brief illness. A Mechanical engineer, Mr. Wilson made several farm machinery inventions. The most recent and widely-known was an electric plow which he demonstrated a year ago on WMCT, The Commercial Appeal television station. Born in Oxford, Miss., he owned his own business, the Wilson Gin Co, in Belzoni, Miss., before moving to Memphis about 30 years ago. In 1896 he assembled a steam automobile by studying factory diagrams. His wife, Lola Wade Wilson, died about 17 years ago. He was a member of Union Avenue Methodist Church. He leaves five sisters, Mrs. H.O. Sneed, Mrs. A.S. Gennette, Mrs. Roy Sutton and Mrs. T.W. Ramsey, all of Memphis, and Mrs. Louis Sheldon of Los Angeles.
