Abraham served as a captain in the Revolution. His wife, Catherine,was a sister of George Beaver, also a captain who served with Abraham in the Revolution. George Beaver married Abraham's sister, Catherine. Abraham operated Keefer's Store and Tavern at Upper Strasburg.
Berks and Schuylkill Journal, 18 Aug 1855:
"Died in Letterkenny Twp., Franklin Co., Pa., Mr Abraham Kieffer, Sr., in the 96th year of his age. He was born in Maxatawny township, Berks Co., Pa., in the year 1760 [sic] and when about 30 years of age removed to Franklin Co., where he lived for 65 years. He was twice in the early Revolution, first as a substitute for his father and afterwards on his own account. He was married 74 years ago at the age of 21 and survived the wife of his youth 22 years."
