MARSHALL - Robert B. Neufer, 65, of 7821 22 1/2-Mile Road, Eckford Township, died Tuesday in Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He had been a patient five days.

He was born in Marshall and was a lifelong area resident. He had resided at the 22 1/2-Mile Road address 35 years. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1936 and during his senior year was co-captain of the football team. From 1938 to 1946 he was employed by the former Marshall Furnace Co., and then until 1978 he was a corrections officer at Southern Michigan Prison at Jackson. He also was engaged in a farming parternship with his father-in-law, Glen Rich.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Surviving are his wife, the former Esther Rich; daughters, Marjorie Neufer of Tucson, Ariz., and Mrs. Jack (Mary) Weaver of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a son, Robert B. Neufer II of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; and a brother, Kirk A. Neufer of Marshall.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Trinity Episcopal Church. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Trinity Episcopal Church. Arrangemens are by Court-Putnam Funeral Home.
