Alfred T. Roberts , 86, went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 11, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Arlington Heights United Methodist Church. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Funeral Home.
Al was born Feb. 24, 1924, the youngest of seven children, and raised in Riverside. He was a decorated Army Air Force World War II Western Pacific veteran. After serving as a staff sergeant in World War II, he began his civilian career at Armour & Company in the Fort Worth Stockyards.
This giving man was a Mason and a leader in the Lions Club of River Oaks. Mr. Roberts was an active member of Arlington Heights United Methodist Church for over 30 years. He was best known for his restaurant, Al's Bar-B-Q Barn in River Oaks.
Survivors: Devoted wife of 65 years, Sue Roberts; daughter, Suzanne Davis and husband, Richard; granddaughter, Bobbie McCurdy and husband, Greg; great-grandchildren, Lexi and Grant McCurdy; and many extended family members and close friends.
