Son of George Powers, CSA, who died of wounds on 6/5/1863 at Winder Hospital, Richmond, VA. and in buried at Hollywood Cemetery there.

POWERS, JOSEPH 1860-1946 PIERCE

Joseph Powers was born on December 2,1860, He was the son of George Powers and his wife, Martha Ann Winn (Vol.VIH), Joseph married Agnes Melinda Dowling on December 24,1885, Agnes was the daughter of Dariing Wesley Dowling and his wife, Mary Harris (Vol.Vl), the daughter of Stogner Harris (Vol Ul). Agnes was born on January 1, 1869. They had nine children and one adopted child.

Mr. Powers was a farmer and lived in the southern part of Pierce County near the Satilla River. Mrs. Powers was a homemaker.

Joseph Powers died on January 7, 1946 and his wife died on May 22, 1954. Mr. and Mrs. Powers are buried in the Enon Cemetery four miles south of Blackshear, Georgia.
