Mavie Detherow-Keys went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2009 at her home in Yokohl Valley, Exeter, CA at the age of 89 years. Mavie and her husband, Howard Detherow were married on May 14, 1941 and made their home in Ivanhoe, CA for 19 years. They raised 4 daughters of their own and two daughters of Mavie's sister, Lela Pearl Bowman, who passed away in 1957. They served in Ivanhoe Assembly of God for those nineteen years. Mavie was a youth leader of Christ Ambassadors and a Sunday School teacher. Mavie was employed by Klink Citrus of Ivanhoe and Lindsay, CA. Mavie loved camping, family get togethers, and reunions. There was always scrumptious food and lots of games. She was very competitive - no challenge was too large. She and Howard and family later attended Visalia First Assembly and also Lindsay Assembly of God. Mavie was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Detherow in 1991 and her husband, Willard Keys in 1997; mother, Pearl Howell and father, Levi Howell; three brothers, Doyal Howell, R. T. Howell, Ozell Howell; three sisters, Hazel Stinnett, Ella Jewell Stinnett and Lela Pearl Bowman. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mable Howell of Sonora, CA; daughters, Louise (James) McConnell, Exeter, Doris (Paul) Gillam, Visalia, Nora Rockholt and Pearl Chapman, both of Exeter, Lela (Raymond) Jordan, New Mexico, and June (Bob) Jones, Visalia; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren, and lots of nieces and nephews. Mavie is treasured by all who knew her. Services are being held on Saturday, April 4th, 1:00 p.m. at Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia, CA. Graveside Services scheduled Monday, April 6th, 1:30 p.m. at the Visalia Cemetery . Visitation is at Miller Memorial Chapel on Friday, 2-7 p.m. Condolences may be made at www.mem.com
