Funeral services for Jerry Paul McAfee, 68, of Longview, will be 2 PM Monday, March 15, at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Barham from Mobberly Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Summerfield Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 14, from 5 to 7 PM.
Jerry passed away peacefully Thursday evening, March 11, surrounded by his family at his residence.
Jerry was born Mar 5, 1941 in Longview to Eugene Carlton McAfee and Willie Whitehurst McAfee. He lived his entire life in Longview.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, who was the love of his life, Norma Love Woodall McAfee of 46 years, devoted son Kelly and daughter in law Sharon and grandpuppy Oatmeal. Niece, Lorna McAfee Garlough, brother in law, Sonny Woodall and wife Loli, sister in law Frankie Woodall Rogers, nephew Preston McAfee. He also has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Extended family members that Jerry loved very much are cousins Tommy Visage and wife Debra, Dale and Jamie Pruitt of Ft. Worth, Sharon's sister and her family, Diane Newsom, her husband Hall and their two daughters Rachel and Alexa Newsom. He is also survived by his closet and dearest friend John Paul Rowton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Marion McAfee and Wayne McAfee.
Jerry was an accountant for Lebus Manufacturing then worked for Reliable Life Insurance Company. He had also owned numerous grocery stores with his brother Wayne.
The joys of his life were Sunday lunches with his family, watching and betting on football, and driving around with Oatmeal.
The family wishes to thank Heartsway Hospice for their loving care toward Jerry, especially Josh, Toby, Debra, Tracy, and Becka. Jerry loved each of you.
Jerry was a loving husband and father and will truly be missed by his family.
