Dean was in the US Army, 626th Quarter Master Corp. from 1945 to 1947. He had basic training at Ft. Beal in CA., then transfered to Ft. Lee in VA before being sent to Munich, Germany. His outfit would drive trucks to France to bring supplies back for the occupation troops. On one of the runs to Riems, France he traded a typewriter for 2 cases of Champagne. He did not say what he did with the Champagne.
