Leland G. Akers, 86, of McPherson and formerly of Conway, died Monday, October 29, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital. He was a retired farmer and stockman.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 3, at King's Hiway Baptist Church. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Stockham Family Funeral Home; the family will be present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

Survivors include: a sister, Ione Johnson of Assaria, KS; two step-daughters, Eileen Sutton of Norway, KS and Karen Buckland of Tulsa, OK; a special friend and companion, Lavina Goering of McPherson; five step-grandchildren, one step-grandchild, two nieces, and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, and a brother, Don Akers.

Memorial donations may be given to the McPherson County Historical Society, Elyria Christian School, or King's Hiway Baptist Church, in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home.
