Mortuary- Last evening about 7 o'clock, Thomas S. Foster died after a few days illness, at his home on West Gay street, in the 45th year of his age.
On Friday evening last deceased was the victim of a severe attack of apoplexy, from which he died. He learned the trade of shoemaking with his father, who still conducts that business at the corner of New and Gay Streets, this borough. When the war broke out deceased entered the army as a private, in Captain Edward James' Company (*), 124th Regiment Pa. Vol's. A few years ago he conducted the boot and shoemaking business at his home, but lately he has been in the employ of Mr. E. H. Holly, as nurse. He was filing that position when sickness prostrated him. he had an elegant bass voice, which served to delight large audiences on many occasions. He was a member of the M.E. Church, this borough, in the choir of which he often lent invaluable aid. he also frequently sang in the Episcopal church choir, of this place. Overtures were made to him by several leading vocal music directors in the cities for the purpose of inducing him to enter the professional arena, but the delights and comforts of his home he would not forsake, and declined all invitations of that character,
he was an affable and courteous companion, and won many warm friends who will regret to learn of his death. He leaves a wife and four children.

The statement that Thomas S. Foster, of this borough, deceased, belonged to Captain James's Co., 124th Regiment, proves to be incorrect. He was a member of R.D. Townsend's Company, the same Regiment.
