Carl Francis Biddiscombe, a native of Saint John, New Brunswick, served with the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve before moving to Hollywood, California where he worked as a Set Director. During his three-decade career, Carl Biddiscombe was nominated for an Academy Award in 1970 for Gaily, Gaily and again in 1971 for Tora! Tora! Tora!. His film work also included TAPS, Raging Bull, Stripes and Blind Date plus television shows such as Star Trek, Perry Mason, Sea Hunt, The Rifleman, The Streets of San Francisco, and Trapper John M.D.
