Carl E. Baumgardner, 77, formerly of 1905 Aspen Drive, Elizabethton, died Sunday, February 9, 2003, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton, TN following an extended illness. Mr. Baumgardner was a native of Carter County and the son of the late B.J. and Easter Hicks Baumgardner. Mr. Baumgardner was self-employed in the construction industry. He was a member of East Side Christian Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his wife, Ira Lena Campbell Baumgardner, Elizabethton; two daughters, Sandy Mallory, Mt. Juliet, and Carole Hazelwood, Hampton; a sister, Manilla Oliver, Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Jeanne Mallory, Nashville; and a grandson, Chris Hazelwood, Hampton.
